Mistake #7 Not getting the right advice, early on.
I know that this may just be because I’m an designer & engineer but getting to solve significant problems everyday, has got to make me one of the luckiest people on the planet.
In my eyes there’s not much that beats the feeling of satisfaction than when our team sees for the first time how to fix something that no one else has been able to fix! Whether its in the design of a new consumer product or medical device or its a new innovation in the aerospace or mining industry, getting it right is pretty exciting.

However many times, when our team finds the right solution to an issue, we find that our clients haven’t been given the right advise when they started their project. In their rush to get the project to the market they rush the foundational phases of their project.

Getting the right advise is one of the most important foundational phases in the development of new products or industrial solutions. It’s also important to remember that good advise is worth paying for because the wrong advise, no matter how small can have dire consequences.

So please remember to surround yourself with people who are not just highly qualified but are also experiences experts in paying attention to small details, sometimes small details are the most important.
I love this quote from a fellow innovator & problem solver...

For The Want of a Nail
“For the want of a nail the shoe was lost,
For the want of a shoe the horse was lost,
For the want of a horse the rider was lost
For the want of a rider the battle was lost,
For the want of a battle the kingdom was lost,
And all for the want of a horseshoe-nail.”
